The project ‘Promoting fresh fishery and aquaculture products of Cyprus’ started in August 2013 and is expected to finish by the end of the year. The Larnaca District Development Agency (ANETEL) as the responsible authority assigned MER & A.L Earnestine Ltd consortium as the winners of the tender (7/2013) to conduct this project.

The project had three main tasks:
1. A fish festival has been successfully hosted to Protaras (Paralimni) on 30th of August 2013. At the festival hundreds of visitors had the opportunity to taste fresh fish, observe traditional crafts demonstrations such as fisheries net knitting, fish filleting, see various Cypriot Traditional Products, and also enjoy a traditional Music and Dance Program.

2. An advertisement campaign had been being carried out in order to promote and inform the public on fresh fishery and aquaculture products of Cyprus. The campaign included Radio and TV advertisements, articles and advertisements in popular newspapers and magazines.

3. Six seminars were given at all districts of Cyprus the autumn of 2013 informing the public (mainly students and consumers) about the fishery and aquaculture products of Cyprus.

The project was co-funded by the National Operational Programme for Fisheries 2007-2013 and the European Fisheries Fund.
