MER’s primary goal is to conduct scientific research and coordinate or take part in marine research projects. MER’s researchers have and are preparing several research proposals, have experience with research programs and are working hard to revolutionize and open new doors to marine research at Cyprus.

MER coordinated a 3 year project titled ‘A holistic approach for the evaluation of the ecological status of coastal waters. The case of Vasiliko Bay.’ funded by the Research Foundation of Cyprus (Republic of Cyprus and European Regional Development Fund) under the National Framework Programme for 2009-2010.

Between 2012-2016, MER acted as the local RTD performer/partner to a 4 year project titled Increasing Industrial Resource Efficiency in European Mariculture funded by the European Commission under FP7-ENV-2012.

MER seeks and is open to collaborations with local and international research institutions, public bodies, NGOs and private companies that undertake scientific research and are seeking a marine ecologist and aquaculture/fisheries specialist and capable partner from the eastern Mediterranean.
