Growing up in Greece, where coastal ecosystems are integral to life, Christina developed a deep appreciation for nature that evolved into a commitment to marine science. She holds a BSc and integrated MSc in Biological Applications and Technology from the University of Ioannina, where she became a certified Ichthyologist and prospective biology teacher. Her academic journey included a traineeship at CRETAquarium, where she gained aquarist skills, and a research assistant role at the University of Glasgow, focusing on marine organism care and experimental research.
In 2024, she completed her MSc in Freshwater and Marine Biology at the University of Amsterdam, after conducting fieldwork with corals in Curaçao and marine mammals in the Azores. This enhanced her spatial data processing skills, field research expertise, and collaborations with institutes like the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research. Her studies also included a major in Science in Society, providing insights into policymaking, stakeholder engagement and sustainable land-use practices. A certified UAV (drone) pilot and PADI Open Water diver, she combines aerial and underwater perspectives in ecological studies.
Passionate about addressing today’s environmental challenges, she has contributed to projects such as analyzing historical biodiversity data for restoring Dutch peat meadows. Her holistic approach integrates technical expertise, interdisciplinary insights and a deep-rooted connection to nature.
