September 24, 2026Draft Lara–Toxeftra Management Plan 2026–2036 open for public review
The draft Lara–Toxeftra Management Plan 2026–2036 is now open for public review. The plan and the presentations delivered during the final consultation workshop, held in Peyia on 16 September 2026, are available below. Comments, recommendations and suggested improvements are welcomed until 20 October 2026.
The workshop brought together representatives of competent authorities, local government, NGOs, local organisations and the community to discuss the project results, management objectives, priorities and proposed actions for the Lara–Toxeftra Turtle Reserve.
Developed through the Lara–Toxeftra Climate-Adaptive and REsponsive (CARE) project, the draft plan brings together scientific evidence, stakeholder perspectives and local knowledge. Its ten-year framework covers:
- Sea-turtle nesting and beach conservation
- Marine habitats and turtle use
- Visitor management and education
- Governance and community participation
- Climate adaptation
The consultation concerns the plan’s management objectives, priorities and proposed actions within the area’s existing legal and institutional framework. The existing legislative framework itself is not part of this consultation.
